The Promise of Tomorrow

This vivid concert work can be performed as a single concert band composition or as a large ensemble work comprising concert band, choir and orchestra. The piece is focused around F major with modal harmonies throughout. The text, written by Donna Fallis, describes the hope and optimism of youth. I wrote this piece with the intention of providing young musicians with exciting parts that will come together nicely, even with limited rehearsal time.

The Promise of Tomorrow was commissioned by the Hopewell Middle School Music Department: Audrey Murphy, Band Director, Donna Fallis, Chorus Director and Teresa Hoebeke, Orchestra Director. This piece commemorates the tenth anniversary of the school’s opening.
